"Astleford Dies From Injuries in Wreck on Bridge"

"George Ray Astleford, 38, 608 East Howard avenue, Biloxi, native of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., died at 8 p.m. Sunday in Touro Infirmary where he was taken Friday afternoon for treatment of injuries received about 1:20 a.m. Friday when his automobile struck another car on the Biloxi-Ocean Springs bridge. Astleford was returning home, at the time of the accident, from new Orleans where he and other members of a Biloxi Chamber of Commerce prize winning membership team were entertained by the New Orleans Association of commerce. Astleford resided in Biloxi 37 years. He graduated from Biloxi High School. He originally was in the dairy business with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. John Astleford, and later was manager of the Biloxi Battery Co. for the past year and a half he has ben employed as aged for the Metropolitan Life Ins. Co., making an outstanding record with the company. He was a member of its Honor Club, its $100,000 Club, its ?? Accident and Health Insurance Club, and was one of the leading salesmen in the district. Mr. Astleford leaves his wife, Charline Longino Astleford, three brothers, Clark, Biloxi; John J., Dothan, Ala. and Roy, a twin of Kansas City, Mo. Mr. Astleford was a member of the Episcopal church, was a past vice president of the Chamber of Commerce, formerly was active in the Lions Club and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Funeral services will be held from the Bradford Funeral Home Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock by Rev. E. A. DeMiller, with interment in the Biloxi Cemetery."
