Wife of Alexander Hamilton. She was the daughter of Revoluntionary War Continental General Philip Schuyler and sister to Angelica Schuyler Church. She was the mother of eight children, including Philip Hamilton, who died in a duel at Weehauken on the same field on which her husband would later lose his life. She was a remarkable woman, outliving her husband by fifty years and fiercely defendeded his honor after his death. After his death, she moved to Washington to be with close friend and confidante Dolly Madison, with whom she raised funds for local orphanages and poor houses until her death in 1854 at the age of 97.
