According to Thomas J. Laforest in "our French-Canadian Ancestors", Vol. XXVII, 1995:
"Gabriel, born at Champlain (Quebec) about 1668; buried at Baie-du-Febvre on 28 November 1745. Married at Trois-Rivières, on 23 November 1693, to Marie Roussel dit Tranchemontagne (1676-1715), daughter of François and of Madeleine Pepin (5 sons and 5 daughters). On 3 March 1687 (contract Ameau), he bought the land of René Sallé at Baie-Saint-Antoine (for which he received the official deed on the following 10 October). His immediate neighbor was Etienne Gélineau, chorister of the parish. The year of his marriage (contract Adhémar, 1 September), Gabriel was hired by Madame de Tonty and Laforest to make a trading journey out to the Illinois country for 350 livres payable in beaver skins. He had already made one journey to the same place in 1691; he would make another to the Outaouais in 1695. On 26 June 1745 (contract Caron), the same year of his death, Gabriel divided his property among his heirs."
