CONSTABLE ELLIS IS DEATH VICTIM
Peace Officer of Fourth District Passes at Local Hospital

A. G. "Red" Ellis, 55, constable of the fourth supervisors' district in Hinds county, died last night at a local hospital after a short illness.

Constable Ellis, who resided at 328 Arbor Vista, was serving his second term as a peace officer. He was a native of Rankin county and moved to Jackson over 30 years ago and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

Besides his wife he is survived by one son, J. E. Ellis and one daughter, Mrs. John Millsaps, both of Jackson; four grandchildren, Lollie Robertson, Mary Lou Robertson, Jimmy Ellis and Alfred Ellis, all of Jackson; four brothers. J. H. Ellis, of Dallas, Tex., J. L. Ellis, of Rankin county, Constable L. D. Ellis and J. N. Ellis, both of Jackson; and' one sister, Mrs. J. G, Wirtz of Jackson.

Funeral services will be conducted from the family home, 328 Arbor Vista, at 4 o'clock Friday afternoon by Rev. W. M. Williams of Magee and Rev. Carey Cox with interment in Cedarlawn Cemetery.

Pall bearers include Carroll Robinson, T. J. Williams. Lucine Holden, Ernest Thompson, Albert Jones, Jack Downing, Toxey Stapleton, E. E. Parker, M. C. Garrett and Jack Ferguson.

A. G. "Red" Ellis, 55, constable of the fourth supervisors' district in Hinds county, died last night at a local hospital after a short illness.

Constable Ellis, who resided at 328 Arbor Vista, was serving his second term as a peace officer. He was a native of Rankin county and moved to Jackson over 30 years ago and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
