Amber was born on January 24, 1989 in Canandaigua. She was a 2007 graduate of Penn Yan Academy, where she was an Honors student who played lacrosse and basketball. Amber attended both Finger Lakes Community College and Corning Community College. Amber loved the outdoors and was enthusiastic about travel. She was particularly interested in Marine Biology and the efforts to reinstate the Manatee into their natural Florida habitat.
Recently, Amber was awarded the John P. Clary Award at Happiness House in Canandaigua, for the courage, perseverance, participation, and humor that she showed in her battle against cancer. Her strength and tenacity carried her through all of life's challenges.
She is survived by her mother, Susan (James) Parker; father, Timothy Hopkins; sister, Meghan (Anthony) Della Penna; brothers: Christopher and Gabriel Hopkins; paternal grandparents: Fred and Loretta Hopkins; maternal grandmother, Nancy Wood; maternal grandfather and his wife, Russell and Bette Wood; many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and a large step family.
