Stephen Ray Burton, 53, of Edinburgh, died at 8:29 p.m., Friday, November 12, 2010, at Johnson Memorial Hospital.

He was born Nov. 16, 1956, in Shelbyville, the son of Winfrey "Wimpy" E. Burton and Mary Jane Cowan Hardin Burton Rhodes.

He was a member of Who So Ever Will Community Church in Edinburgh and was an employee of Cummins in Columbus. He loved all sports.

He is survived by a son, Zackary Stephen Burton, of Edinburgh; a daughter, Emily Jordan Burton, of Edinburgh; a brother, Larry Burton, of Edinburgh; and sisters, Sue (Steve) Cox, of Mt. Auburn, Brenda (Roland) Fox, of Nashville, Nancy (Richard) Ferguson, of Columbus and Melba (Lonnie) Toops and Cathy Jo (David) Beatty, both of Edinburgh.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Hardin.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Who So Ever Will Community Church with the Revs. Lewis Burton and Guy Hardin officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.

Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. Arrangements were made by Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh.

He was born Nov. 16, 1956, in Shelbyville to the late Winfrey "Wimpy" E. Burton and Mary Jane (Cowan) Hardin Burton Rhodes.

Survivors include his children, Zackary Stephen and Emily Jordan Burton, both of Edinburgh; siblings, Larry Burton of Edinburgh, Sue (Steve) Cox of Mt. Auburn, Brenda (Roland) Fox of Nashville, Melba (Lonnie) Toops and Cathy Jo (David) Beatty, both of Edinburgh; and Nancy (Richard) Ferguson of Columbus.
