Verna Johnson Kuchar, 89, or Ennis, died April 9, 1995 at the IOOF Nursing Home in Ennis. Services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday in Frost Cemetery with Rev. Richard Moody officiating. Services are under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary.

Mrs. Kuchar was born Dec. 24, 1905, in Malone. She was the daughter of William A. and Lucy Jane Mathis York. She grew up in Irene and graduated from Irene High School. She married Frank Johnson in 1923. After getting married she operated Johnson's Ladies Shop in Frost. She moved to Ennis and owned and operated Johnson Dry Goods. At the time of her retirement she owned and operated Verna's Korner. She was married to Joseph F. Kuchar in 1972 and helped run Kuchar's Clothing.

She is survived by two sons, Dr. Bill Johnson of Victoria and Bob Johnson of Dallas; four grandchildren and six great-granchildren.

Mrs. Kuchar was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Johnson in 1965 and her second usband Joseph F. Kuchar in 1985.
