James David Mann, Sr., 74, of 103 Windsor Dr, Waterloo, beloved husband of Barbara Livingston Barbery Mann, died April 12, 2011, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born, October 19, 1936, in Waterloo, SC, he was a son of the late Clarence and Estelle Sides (Sykes) Mann. He was a 1955 graduate of Laurens High School, where he was a star football player. Mr. Mann served in the 51st Infantry of the Army National Guard as a Specialist 4th class gunner of the 75th Artillery.

He later retired as a supervisor with Stoffer's Food in Gaffney. After retirement, David enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his wife at their beach home in Garden City.

Surviving in addition to his wife, who was his high school sweetheart, are his children James David "Jamie" Mann, Jr. of Tulsa, OK, Charles "Chuck" Mann of Clinton, Tina Renee Mann Homsley of Murrells Inlet, and Wister Jeanette Mann Alexander of Whitmire; step-daughters, Robin Barbery Davis of Laurens, Chris Barbery Ward of Greenville, and Kim Barbery of Lexington; brothers, Oscar Mann, Linton Mann, Steve Mann all of Greenwood, Tony Mann of Ware Shoals, and Roger Mann of Waterloo; sisters, Nancy Mann Long and Faye Mann McElrath both of Greenwood; two paternal aunts Margie Mann of Waterloo and Hazel Mann of Hickory Tavern; seven grandchildren and five step-grandchildren; devoted cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Timothy Mann and siblings, Mary Alice Mann, Betty Jean Mann McGee, and Michael Grant Mann, Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Kennedy Mortuary Chapel conducted by Dr. William Harris with burial in Waterloo Cemetery. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the Kennedy Mortuary on Friday, April 15, 2011, from 7-8:30 PM.
