Chesapeake - Daniel Roy Ford Jr., 87, of Capri Circle, died Dec. 31, 2006, in a Portsmouth hospital. He was a native of Duford, S.C., and was predeceased by his wife, Louise Strickland Ford; one daughter, Dolly Angelia Ford; and six siblings, Zarvis Ford, Asbury Ford, Boyd Ford, Bernice Nunnery, Edgar B. Ford and Luther Ford. Mr. Ford was retired from Norshipco, was an avid gardener, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Louise Ford of Chesapeake, Lois Ford Holland of Pawleys Island, S.C., and Deborah Ford Thayer of Charlotte, N.C.; four sons, Lt. Col. Kenneth L. Ford of Alexandria, Va., Harold M. Ford of Bell Haven, Va., John Douglas Ford of Charleston, S.C., and John C. Taylor of Portsmouth; one sister, Sarah Connelly and one brother, Bennett Ford, both of South Carolina; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 4 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
