MRS. MAUDE McCOLLOUGH

Mrs. Maude Mills McCollough, wife of Kenneth M. McCollough, died suddenly at her home in Butler last Thursday evening. Death was due to a stroke, following an illness of several months. She was 57 years of age..
The deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mills. Though born in Donegal township, she passed her girlhoood in Chicora, her parents moving into town when she came of school age. She graduated from the Chicora schools; and began teaching first in Donegal township, then in Millerstown borough. After teaching in the Chicora schools for several terms she was married to Kenneth McCollough, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. McCollough of Fairview township; and she and her husband went to Asbury Park, N. J. where Mr. McCollough was employed. Later they moved to Butler where Mrs. McCollough again took up her profession as teacher, a work in which she always took the deepest interest.
She was a member of the Chicora Methodist Episcopal church. When she moved to Butler she united with that denomination there. For many years she taught a Sunday School class; and was always active in other church work. She was a member of the Women's Business and Professional Club of Butler; A member of the Chicora Amaranth Club; and a member of the Pennsylvania State Teachers Association. Hers was a busy and useful life.
Surviving are her husband, Kenneth M. McCollough; a neice (sic), Miss Gloria Mackey, at home; four sisters, Mrs. A. J. Simon, Mrs. L. C. Wicks, Mrs. C. E. Perman of Pittsburgh, and Mrs. A. A. Hoch of Chicora, and a brotehr (sic) William Mills of Chicora.
Funeral services, conducted by her pastor, Rev. R. W. McKenzie, were held in her late home, 404 Mercer street, Butler, Monday afternoon.
Burial was made in the Hillview cemetery at Kepples Corners.
