Gerald served as a Private First Class in the 16th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided at 27 Romeyn Street, Rochester, Monroe County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on January 20, 1943 in Rochester, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the manufacture of furniture and also as Single, without dependents.

Gerald was "Killed In Action" serving with an infantry medical unit in Germany during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was first interred overseas and later re-interred here on December 9, 1948.
