Son of Seaborn J. (1814-1880) & Sally Ann Smith Shropshire, married 23Jan, 1840 in Georgia.

The last battle associated with the Siege of Knoxville was fought in Bean Station, TN in December, 1863. Thereafter, General Longstreet's Confederate Army went into winter encampment in Russellville, Jefferson County (now Hamblen County), TN until the Spring of 1864.

Charles Shropshire died during the Battle of Mossy Creek, Jefferson County, TN on 12/ 28/ 1863 and is buried in the Bethesda Cemetery, Russellville, Hamblen Co, TN. He died in the defense of his country.
