DEATH OF WILLIAM A. HART
William Amisy Hart, born in Newark, Vt., Jan. 12, 1845, son of George and Mary Hart, died at his home on Henry Street, Bellows Falls, Wednesday evening, April 4.
On Jan.8, 1862, he joined Co. K, 8th Vt. Regt., and was discharged Jun. 28, 1865. On May 20, 1866, he was united in marriage with Mrs. Maryette Hudson Ross who passed away July 5, 1898.
Four sons were born to them, Fred David and Edgar A. of Lyndonville, Cyrus L. of Bellows Falls, and Frank W. of Abington, Conn.
On June 29, 1899, he was united in marriage to Mrs. May C. Chamberlain and most of their married life was spent in Saxtons River and Bellows Falls.
Mr. Hart has many friends who mourn his loss. It can be truthfully said that a good man has gone. Three Weeks ago he had a shock from which he never got up but was tenderly cared for by his wife.
Mr. Hart leaves to mourn his loss beside his wife and four sons, one step-son, Charles D. Chamberlain, and four grandchildren, Mrs. Fred Martin Hart and Arthur Hart of Bellows Falls, Miss Pearl M. Hart and Mrs. Electa LaFort of Abington, Conn., and four great grandchildren, Barbara Martin, Frances, Shirley and Patricia Hart of Bellows Falls.
The funeral was held at the Fenton & Hennesey funeral home in Bellows Falls Saturday at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Blackmer and interment was in the family lot at Saxtons River. The bearers were his four sons assisted at the grave by four American Legion boys.Taps were sounded at the grave and two songs were sung, "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" by Corrine Lake and Cinda LaClair.
