Noted Hymn Writer Buried in Gustavus

Oberlin, Dec 9-The body of Prof. C.C. Case, 75, who died here Sunday, was buried at Gustavus, his birthplace.
Prof. Case for twelve years was musical director of the original assembly at Lake Chautauqua, N.Y. Under his direction the oratorio of the "Messiah" was given for the first time on a camp ground.
He was a writer of many popular hymns, and for many years he toured the country as soloist for Dwight L. Moody, the evangalist.
Only a short time before he died, Prof. Case published a patriotic song entitled, "Stand Behind the Boys Over There".
Prof. Case was a well known figure in Trumbull County and had in years past conducted many musical festivals here.

Note: Birthplace, according to census records was Pennsylvania. Other biographical information indicate he moved to Gustavus, OH at age 4.

Gustavus, Dec. 17- The body of Prof. CC Case who died at his home in Oberlin was brought here for burial last week, but on account of the flu, no funeral services were held.
