Charles enlisted in the 1st SC INF (Six Months unit) January 12, 1861, from Union, SC, and mustered out July 12, 1861. He enlisted in the Macbeth Artillery from Union, SC, Sept. 13, 1861.
Charles married 1) Eliza Ann Felker (1845-1880) about 1865 in South Carolina. By 1870, they were living in Anderson County, SC, where they had one daughter, Rose, after 1870. The family moved to Texas about 1872. Does anyone know what became of Rose?
Eliza's sister, Texana Felker, married William Thomas Clark (Memorial# 6839315), who was probably a brother of Charles M. Clark. Charles & Eliza moved to Texas about 1872.
Following the death of Eliza, Charles married 2) Flora Luella Childs (1857-1892) about 1880.
Four children:
• Minnie Mae Clark Grubbs (1881-1958)
• John Madison Clark (1887-1939)
• Joseph Ponder Clark (1890-1944)
• Flora Louella Clark Lockhart (1892-1966)
Charles married 3) Martha Naomi Foster (1849-1919) between 1892 & 1900. No children. Martha was in her 40s when they married. She reared his children from his second marriage.
