CLINTON
Lester English, 85, of Clinton, passed away on Feb. 16, 2011, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born on Feb. 23, 1925, in Metcalf, Ill., to Rex and Lucy Curry English.
He was a World War II Navy Air Force veteran from 1943-1947. He was a heavy equipment operator with Local 841. He was a member of the St. Bernice Church of the Nazarene and a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Clinton.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alice Myers English; two sons, Larry
(Rachel) English of Fairview and Michael English of Pittsfield, Mass.; two daughters, Donna Cooper of Clinton and Patty DePugh of Marshall; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Delores Elmore of Marshall. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, at Frist Funeral Home. Service at 11 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Garrett Lee officiating. Burial will be in West Union Cemetery.
