U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Kingston Academy, in 1806, from Yale College, in 1810, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1813 and commenced to law practice law in Kingston, New York, in 1814. In 1827, he was elected as a Adams candidate to the Nineteenth Congress, serving until 1827. After leaving Congress, he was president of Ulster County Bank in 1831, president of Rutgers College, (1840-50) and president of the Kingston Bank. He died in retirement from pneumonia.
