Elias Witwer was re-interred here on Apr. 12, 1944, from Mishawaka Cemetery, Lot 505, Grave 7.

Mishawaka Enterprise (Mishawaka, Ind.), Thurs., Mar. 16, 1939, p. 7:
"E. S. Witwer, aged 87, of 319 S. Mill street, oldest member of the First Christian church, died of pneumonia at 4:30 o'clock Saturday morning in his home, after a few days illness. This was the first death in the Witwer family in 40 years. Mr. Witwer was born June 17, 1851 in Stark county, Ohio, and came here from Plymouth, Ind., 40 years ago. He was married June 8, 1873, in Canton Ohio, to Lydia Pfautz, who survives. Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Edwin L. Witwer of South Bend, and Harry J. Witwer, this city; five daughters, Mrs. Anne Sherry, at home, Mrs. Orlando Compton, of South Bend, Mrs. J. H. Drapier, of Houston, Texas, Mrs. G. L. Guy of this city, and Mrs. F. W. Kelley of Chicago; three sisters, Mrs. Lucinda Liggett of Eden, Ill.; Mrs. Louise Warner of Plymouth and Mrs. Elizabeth Nichols, Twin Lakes, Ind.; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Mr. Witwer sang in the church choir until two years ago. The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon in the church, the Rev. C. C. Stauffer officiating. Burial was in the city cemetery."
