Funeral services for Sam McFarland were held at 4 p.m. Friday, May 28, 1999 in the Zion Hill Baptist Church. Officiating were Revs. Wallace Ingles, Deloy Shows, Lloyd Whitman and C. J. Townsend. Burial followed in the Zion Hill Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.
Mr. McFarland, age 33 of Winnfield died Monday, May 24, 1999. He was a member of the Zion Hill Baptist church and a farmer.
Survivors are his wife, Kim Shows McFarland of Winnfield, LA; mother, Esther McFarland Grice of Tannehill, LA; six brothers, Bobby Joe McFarland of Longview, WA, Loran McFarland and Charles McFarland both of Winnfield, LA, Lester McFarland of Ft. Worth, TX, Buddy McFarland of Dodson, LA and Pete McFarland of Bentley, LA; four sisters, Cleo Kavanaugh of Tallulah, LA, Nancy Gordon of Tioga, LA, Myra Johnson of Winnfield, LA and Thelma Alderson of Bossier City, LA; mother and father-in-law, Deloy and Jean Shows of Winnfield.
Pallbearers were: Jack McFarland, Terry Taylor, John Smith, Jed Martin, Trampas Shelton, Kurt Shelton, Bryan McFarland and Deano Thornton.
