Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He entered the service at Avon, Livingston County, New York. He was a prisoner of war and was killed in action at Peach Tree Creek, Georgia. He served as a Private in the Union Army in Company G, 136th New York Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for action on July 20, 1864 at Peach Tree Creek, Georgia and the Medal was issued on April 7, 1865. His citation reads "Capture of flag of 31st Mississippi (C.S.A.)".
