Husband of Mary Cullers

Son of Jackson Mongold And Rebecca Jane Sites

The citizens of the community of Masonville, were saddened over the passing of
one of their outstanding citizens, John A Mongold, son of the late Jackson
Mongold and one of 12 children of this highly respected family. He had not
enjoyed good health for quite a few years and in his weakened condition about
five or six weeks ago took grip or flu, later developed pleurisy, which was to
much for his weakened condition, claiming him as a victim Sunday night, March
12th at 10:00 o'clock, at the age of 55 years, 5 months and 19 days.
John A Mongold was married to Mary Jane Cullers 31 years ago and they spent
their entire life in the section where he died and was engaged in farming. To
this union were born seven children. Two sons, Guy, near Masonville, William,
at home, Nettie Mongold Parsons, who died last July with typhoid fever, leaving
her husband and four little children, Etta Mongold Sites, Misses Mattie, Naoma,
and Arlena, all at home.
He leaves to mourn his loss, a devoted wife, six children and nine
grandchildren, besides six brothers and sisters. He was a loving husband and
father, a fine neighbor, always willing to do all he could to help others and
all are aware of the fact that he will be missed in his community.
He united with the Church of the Brethren at an early age in life and has lived
a devoted christian life, having served as Deacon in the church for many years
and always ready to do all he could for the Master's work and to help others.
Funeral services were conducted from the home on March 14th, with a large body
of relatives and friends, services being conducted by Rev., P.I. Garber. The
body was deposited in the family cemetery, near the home.
