Opal Everett Anderson, a retired Mt. Vernon postal clerk, died at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Mr. Anderson was 69 years, ten months and 24 days of age.

For many years Mr. Anderson provided courteous and efficient service to the patrons of the local post office.

He was a stockholder in the old St. Louis Browns baseball club and when that big league team moved to Baltimore his stock was transferred to the Orioles.

Mr. Anderson's interest in sports was not confined to just the major leagues. At one time he was the announcer at Mt. Vernon high school athletic contests, handling the loud speaker system.

Mr. Anderson was born May 21, 1900 at Sims, the son of Clarence and Luella Meeks Anderson.

In 1921 he married Stella Mayberry in Sims and she survives.

Mr. Anderson was a member of the Second Baptist Church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Robert L. Anderson; a daughter, Mrs. Donald N,. Wood; a brother, Orville; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Myers Chapel with burial in the Oakwood cemetery.
