Grace A. Abel, 95, of Neillsville, formerly of Greenwood, died at Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville on Friday, June 4, 2004.

Grace A. Herr was born on Feb. 3, 1909, in Alden, Ill., the daughter of Albert and Ellen (Bailey) Herr. She was raised and educated in Greenwood where she attended St. Mary's parochial school and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1927.

Grace was united in marriage to Otto William Abel on Dec. 17, 1931, in Greenwood. They operated Otto's parents' farm for one year and then moved to a farm two miles north of Greenwood. In 1940, they moved into Greenwood where Grace was a homemaker. She later moved to Wisconsin Rapids where she lived for several years. She then entered the Neillsville Memorial Home in February of 2002.

She is survived by her five children, Harold "Bud" of Marengo, Ill., Joan (Harry) Bujanowski of Wisconsin Rapids, Lloyd (Dawn) of Brussels, Wis., Donna (Jerry) Peters of Rudolph and Frank (Abigail) of LaPuente, Calif.; twenty three grandchildren; twenty eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Dolores Keating of Muncie, Ind., and Loretta Herr of Greenwood.

Her husband, Otto, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenwood. The Rev. Joseph Follmar will officiate and burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
