Portland (NY) - Elmer Persons, 68, died at his home here on Friday afternoon, following an illness of two years after being kicked by a horse. He is survived by his wife, Mertie Keet Persons; a sister Mrs. Clyde Cobb of Brocton, and a brother, Alton Persons of Bemus Point. Born in the Town of Ellery, he came to Portland from Gerry 44 years ago and served as a rural mail carrier for 27 years before his accident. He was a member of Brocton Lodge, F. & A.M.; Portland Grange, the Rural Mail Carriers' Association and the Portland Congregational Church. Funeral services will be held at the church on Monday at 2 P.M., with the pastor, Rev. Claude Dye, officiating, assisted by Rev. Joseph Phillips of Angola.
