Robert W. Armstrong, aged 87 years, died Wednesday at the home of his son, Arthur R. Armstrong, New Castle, R.D. 4, after a three years illness due to complications. All of his life was lived in Plaingrove except the past seven years. Born June 25, 1863, in Plaingrove, he was a son of Samuel and Elizabeth Davidson Armstrong. He was a farmer by occupation. Mr. Armstrong was a member of Plaingrove Presbyterian church and Plaingrove Reading Circle. He was a charter member of the Plaingrove I.O.O.F. lodge. Survivors are three children, Arthur, New Castle, R.D. 4, Mrs. Roberta McCommons, Grove City, and Mrs. Mary Florence English Slippery Rock, R.D.; a sister, Mrs. Minnie McIntosh, Orlando, Fla., five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His wife, nee Florence Moore, whom he married in 1908, died two years ago. Four brothers preceded him in death. Rev. Fred Cochran will officiate at funeral services Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Cunningham funeral home, Leesburg, where friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will take place in Plaingrove Presbyterian cemetery.
