Actor. Born William Tyrrell Quinn in New York City, he appeared in more than 150 acting roles in films and television. He began his career as a vaudeville stage performer and made his film debut in "The New School Teacher" (1924). His other film credits included "The Mountain Road" (1960), "The Birds" (1963), "Matilda" (1978), "Lucky Stuff" (1988) and "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier" (1989). For television, he was best remembered for the role of Mr. Van Ranseleer on the series "All in the Family" and "Archie Bunker's Place". He also appeared on "Hawaiian Eye", "McHales Navy", "The Rifleman", "The Odd Couple" and "Newhart". He died at age 81 in Camarillo, California.
