Major League Baseball player. Southworth played outfield for many teams including, the Boston Braves, New York Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cleveland Indians and the St. Louis Cardinals between 1915 and 1929. Southworth was also manager of the St. Louis Cardinals (1940-1945) and the Boston Braves (1946-1951). He managed the Cardinals to two World Series victories, one in 1942 and the other in 1944. Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in the summer of 2008.
