Wife of Robert M Howley

Winifred A. "Winnie" Howley, 90, of Topeka, died June 10, 2011 at Manor Care Nursing Home.

She was born in Topeka, Kansas on June 20, 1920 the daughter of Thomas H. and Mabel O. (Kreipe) Anderson.

Winnie was a Bomb Site Instrument Inspector for North American Aviation. She also worked in inventory control for National Carbon and Linde Air for three years.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Queen of Spades, Topeka Rose Society Garden Clubs, Lawrence Daffodil Club, Topeka Guild and Artists Associates, Legion of Mary where she served as President, Altar Society at the church, and was active in Girl Scouts. Winnie was an Eastern Unit of the National Accredited Flower Judges, and served as Kansas Chairman of World Gardening for the Kansas Association of Garden Clubs.

She married Robert Howley in Big Springs, Kansas on February 3, 1951. He preceded her in death on February 18, 1999. She is survived by two sons, Phillip M. Howley of Topeka, James E. Howley of Fulton, MO , a daughter Alice Marie Piper of Granite City, IL, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.



Winnie will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Monday after 2:00 p.m. where an Altar Society Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. and a Parish Rosary will be at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Big Springs, Kansas.
