Clyde Cranford Funeral Services At Local Chapel

Funeral services for William Clyde Cranford, 53, were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday from the chapel of Colonial Funeral Home with Dr. Howard Aultman, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating, assisted by the Rev. Joe D. Boutwell, pastor of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
Special music for the service was a vocal solo, "When They Ring Those Golden Bells,' by Mrs. Louis Barnes, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. J. T. Waldrop.
Interment was in Columbia Cemetery under direction of Colonial Funeral Home.
Active Pallbearers were nephews of Mr. Cranford, Sammy Cranford, the Rev. Ralph Cranford, Kenneth Cranford, Roland Cranford, Douglas Manton, Charles Fortenberry, Bobby Nolen and Kenneth Coulter.
Honorary pallbearers were Walter Fagan, Charles Lott, Marvin Graham, Judge Sebe Dale, L. H. Herberger, Lee Y. Ramsey, Sam Pope, John H. Willoughby and James D. Fortenberry.
Mr. Cranford, an employee of the New Orleans Furniture Manufacturing Co. maintenance department, died unexpectedly at 6 a.m. Monday at his home, 200 Dewey Street.
A native and lifetime resident of this county, Mr. Cranford was well known throughout this area and had made many friends in all walks of life. He was born October 27, 1909, son of William Samuel and Margaret Broom Cranford.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of a men's Bible class in that church. A Mason, he was a member of Carley Lodge, Bunker Hill.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ardis Jones Cranford of Columbia; one daughter, Mrs. Frank Breland of Cedar Grove; one son, Lt. Billy Clyde Cranford, stationed with the United States Navy in Japan; two step-daughters, Mrs. Oliver Whittington of Raceland, La. and Mrs. Frank Miano of Columbia; two brothers, Charles Ebb Cranford of Cedar Grove and Howard Cranford of Hub; three sisters, Mrs. Bowers McDaniel and Mrs. Darrell McNeese of Columbia and Mrs. Cozzie Manton of Bassfield; and ten grandchildren.
