Ernest Ralph Bailey, 71 of 1018 Hatchers Creek Road, Stanton, husband of Darlene
Rogers Bailey, died Saturday, April 2, 2011, at his home. He was born June 11,
1939, in Estill County to the late Willie C. Bailey and Crystal E. Johnson
Bailey. He was a retired farmer and former Powell County Deputy Sheriff. He was
preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Abney.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Rogers Bailey, Stanton; five sons, David
Bailey and wife, Joanna of Stanton, James Harold Bailey and wife, C indy of
Stanton, Wendell Bailey and wife, Melissa of Clay City, Timothy Bailey of
Stanton, and Jason Bailey and wife Jessica of Cynthiana; four daughters, Linda
and husband, Randy Lively of Tennessee, Pamela and husband Alvin Hughes Jr. of
Florida, Patricia and husband, Nolie Bascomb of Stanton, and Jennifer Rowland of
Stanton; two brothers, Danny and James Bailey, both of Stanton; seven sisters,
Donna and husband, Robert Nickerson of Clay City, Ovalene Thompson of Ohio,
Mable Campbell of Stanton, Alene Whisman of Frenchburg, Francis Spencer of Mt.
Sterling, James and husband Chester Sullivan of Somerset, and Debbie and husband
Mark Hobbs of Lexington; 22 grandchildren, Ernest David Bailey Jr., Beverly
Bailey, Autumn and husband Jeremy Caudill, Ryan Miller, Allison Hatton, Sabrina
Hatton, Annie Tipton, Amanda and husband Roberto Hernandez, Felicia and husband
Alex Lacy, Bethany Bailey, Heather Hatton, Jessie Hatton, Samantha Napier,
Elizabeth and husband Brad Blackmoore, Charlie Hughes, Autumn Rowland, Dustin
Bailey, Zack Hall, Max Ballard, Bailey Rowland, Jacob Rowland, and Khanlun
Bailey; and 14 great grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, April 4, 2011, at Wells Funeral Home in Stanton by
Bro. Henry Johnson. Burial was at Bailey Cemetery in Stanton. Pallbearers were
Alvini Hughes Jr., Mark Hobbs, Robert Nickerson, Robert Rogers, Brad Blackmorre,
and Robert Canafax. Honorary pallbearers were Chester Sullivan and Larry Young
