Jim served as a Private in the 60th Infantry, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided at 64 Weld Street in Rochester, Monroe County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on March 15, 1944 at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being a resident of Monroe County, New York, as being employed as a Driver, and also as Married.

It is believed that the "New Jersey" noted on his tombstone is an error and possible, for some reason, requested by a family member. It should note "New York".

He was first declared "Missing In Action" and later as "Killed In Action" during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
