Raymond Allen Snowden was the last person to be executed at the "Old State Penitentiary". Snowden was convicted of murdering Garden City, ID resident Cora Lucyle Dean in September, 1956. Dean was found early one Sunday morning by a paperboy, after having been stabbed 29 times with a pocket knife. Snowden was the only person hanged in the newly constructed gallows inside Cell House #5. He lies in an unmarked grave in the prison cemetery.
