Rosalinda Maria Fonoll Fox

Rosalinda was born in Mexico to Julian Lerma and Isabel Fonoll. She came to Chicago in the early 70's where she met and married James Fox. They had a son James and a daughter Sabrina. Rosalinda was a very hard working woman, when at home she just had to be doing something.

To say Rose was a cat lover is an understatement, she adored her cats!!! And her cats certainly loved her back.

I remember, back when my boys were little we used to visit a Zoo, outside Chicago called Brookfield Zoo. We used to like going out there because they had attractions and shows that our Lincoln Park Zoo here in Chicago didn't have back then. On this particular occasion, after enjoying the Dolphin's show, we entered the Bat's house. Everything was fine until out of nowhere a bat just flew towards me. I was terrified for I had very long hair at the time and I thought the bat would get entangled in my hair. So, needless to say, I grabbed my hair and took off running and screaming like a demented woman out of the bat's house. My kids, Rose's kids, my husband, and everyone else were running after me. At the end, when I stopped running and they were able to catch me, I realized that I had lost a sandal and she just started laughing to the point of tears, and so was everyone else around us. The Lord knows I tried to forget that embarrassing day, but not Rose. She brought it up at every opportunity she had, and would laugh just as hard as the day itself. She always told me to enter a marathon and that I would surely win; for all I had to do was think of the bats chasing me!!!
(PS; I never went back to that bat house though!)

She became a child again every Halloween. She used to have every decoration imaginable. Her outside decorations were the greatest. Some decorations were home made and were prettier, more elaborate and realistic than store bought ones. She used to dress up in a costume, go trick or treating with the kids, and then come back to host her own Halloween party at home. The only other person I know who loves Halloween as much as she did is my son Steven, her Nephew.

Holidays were very important to her, and she would always have her family and relatives around. She was specially adamant to have all her family together at her home for Thanksgiving. Christmas were never the same for her after her Mother Isabel went to heaven back in 1988. Not just because of the fact that her mom had passed, but because she passed in December. But she would just try her best for the sake of the family, specially the kids. She also refused to celebrate Mother's day, she would always say "my Mom is in heaven, I no longer have anything to celebrate." Rose really loved her mom and was never able to bounce back after her passing. I know they're together in heaven and very happy.

She was a devoted wife to Jim, a caring and loving mother, an excellent daughter, a great sister to Elena and Tony, and a very loving and attentive aunt to her nephews, nieces, and extended family.

She passed away after a short but courageous battle against breast cancer. She was 65 years young.

Rose, thank you for being such a kind and caring Aunt to my boys; your Nephews... Know that you're cherished, very much missed, and lovingly remembered always. God bless your soul dear...
