Services for Oscar D. Watkins, 77, of Athens are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday in the Church of Christ in Canon City, Colo., with Rev. Ernest Boone officiating.

Burial will be in Mountain Vale Memorial Gardens in Canon City, Colo., under the direction of Holt-Dixon Funeral Directors in Canon City.

Mr. Watkins died Wednesday in an Athens hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born Jan. 1, 1909 in Beaver County, Okla. He was a two-year resident of Athens. He was a former resident of Colorado Springs and Canon City, Colo. He was a member of the Eastern Hills Church of Christ in Athens and was a retired diesel engine mechanic.

He is survived by his wife, Mamie Watkins of Athens; a son, Oscar M. Watkins of Irving; a daughter, Marie Matthews of Temple; four brothers, Earl Watkins of Tarpin, Okla., Virgil Watkins, Ernest Watkins and Felton Watkins, all of Dove Creek, Colo.; three sisters, Tola Trollinger of Banning, Calif., Rosie Cory of Harviel, Mo., Lois Sword of Oklahoma City; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; two stepduaghters, Phyllis Priddy of Phoenix, Ariz., and DeLois Bomberger of Athens.

The body may be viewed at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens on Friday.

Family members will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
