Joe J Allen, 91, of Caldwell, died Monday, July 6, 1998, at a Caldwell hospital from injuried received in a tractor mishap. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 1998 at the Flahiff funeral Chapel, Caldwell, Pastor Chuck Wigton of the First Christian Church Caldwell, will officiate. Interment will follow at Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell.
Mr. Allen was born Aug 25, 1906 at Stockton, Mo a son of Harvey E & Della Gunier allen. He moved with his familly at an early age to Arkansas where he was reared & educated. As a young man, Joe worked with his father & did road & truck work.
He married Mary Margaret Martin on Nov 4, 1933 & the couple moved to Idaho in 1934. Joe lived a full & complete life of a farmer in the same area near Greenleaf for over 65 yrs. Mary died in 1978 & Joe married Ethelyn Sidener Ragains on Feb 26, 1983 in Caldwell. Together they continued to enjoy life on the home place where Joe was known for his generous garden wealth. Joe loved the outdoors, hunting, & fishing especially with his family. He bagged his last deer at the tender age of 89. His interests also included music, dancing, horses, & he belonged to the Huston Saddle Club. His greatest love was that of his family & his farm.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Ethelyn of Caldwell: three sons & daughters-in-law, William "Bill" & Joanne Allen of Gaston, Or, Donald & Alberta Allen of Sandy, Or & Bobby & Betty Allen of Caldwell: a daughter, Anna Bick of Ogden,Ut: two sisters, Jewell Cooper & Faye Singley, both of Boise: 15 grandchildren,Linda,Bill,Debbie,Jim,Angie,Cheryl,Yetiva,Don,Bruce,Mike,Jeff,Christy,Randy,Matt & Tami:28 great-grandchildren:5 great-great grand children:& numerous nieces & nephews:
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother & four sisters.
Friends may call today, Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel,Caldwell. Family & friends will gather at Joe's house on Ustick & Friends Road following the services on Thursday.
