Regina C. Wirtz
Regina C. Wirtz, 96, formerly of Mount Calvary, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at the Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center in New Holstein where she resided for the last 3 weeks.
She was born Dec. 24, 1908, in Mount Calvary, a daughter of the late John and Rosa Steffes Brenner.
She attended Holy Cross Grade School in Mount Calvary. On May 1, 1928, she married Herman J. Wirtz at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mount Calvary. The couple farmed in the Mount Calvary area most of their lives. In 1992 they moved to Fond du Lac. Her husband preceded her in death on July 26, 2002.
After her husband died, Regina moved in to live with her daughter near Calumetville until March of 2005 when she moved to Century Ridge in Chilton.
Regina was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mount Calvary and the Christian Women's Society. She was a self-taught pianist, and she and her husband, who played the violin, loved to entertain people and feed them too. Regina was also known for her talent for writing; many of her articles about life experiences during the Depression Era were published in the Fond du Lac Reporter.
Survivors include her daughter, Marion (Ambrose) Buechel of Malone; two grandchildren, Marilyn (Jim) Juckem of Chilton and Jim (Karen) Buechel of Malone; five great-grandchildren, John, Mary and David Juckem and Kevin and Kelly Buechel; two sisters, Minnie Widmer of Theresa and Vincentia Steffes of Fond du Lac; two brothers, Rudolph (Dorothy) Brenner of Chilton and Harold (Bertie) Brenner of Mount Calvary; sister-in-law, Jeanette Brenner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Anna Petrie; four brothers, Leo, Walter, Albin and Bernard Brenner.
• Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mount Calvary. The Rev. Gerald Pehler OFM Cap. will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
• Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, at the Huss-Sippel Funeral Home 1311 Thorp Street, St. Cloud, and again from 9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning when brief family rites will be held at the funeral home. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
The Huss-Sippel Funeral Home in St. Cloud (920) 999-2291 is assisting the family.
