John D. Richards of Indiana will be a member of the bridal party of Edward Irving Bates of Meadville and Miss Eleanor Van Scoten, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Scoten of Avalon. The marriage will occur on ApriL 26. As maid of honor Miss Van Scoten will have Miss Mary Louise Murphy of Bellevue and as bridesmaids, the Misses Florence Clark, of Erie, Sarah Bates, sister of the bridegroom-elect, and Martha McKeever of Meadville and Lois Ann Alter of New Kensington.

Mr. Bates has asked his brother, Robert Bates, to serve him as best man. The ushers are J. Hicks Baldwin of Washington, D.C.; John D. Richards of Indiana, Pa.; Franklin Hunter of Meadville, and Charles R. Clark of Pittsburgh.

The ceremony will be solemnized at 8 o'clock in the evening in the Bellevue Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. John Benjamin Magee officiating. A reception at the Shannopin Country Club will follow.
