Sarah was the daughter of George Sudduth and Sarah Pierce. On September 05, 1852, in Franklin County, Kentucky she married Finney Rataford Bryant, who was widowed after the death of his first wife, Elizabeth Tuley. Finney and Elizabeth had two children, and he and Sarah were the parents of four children. After Finney's death in 1857, Sarah lived with her brother, Henry.
