Dorothy "Dottie" M. (Volkl) Pappenfus, age 83, resident of Woodland Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2006, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. She was born March 25, 1922, in Brainerd to Ernest and Gladys (Bisiar) Kendall. Dorothy was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church; she was an active volunteer at Woodland Good Samaritan Village, a member of the Woodland Red Hat Society and the Woodland Auxiliary.
Survivors include her children, Michael and (Michele) Volkl, Bonnie and (Ted) Popp; daughter-in-law, Joan Volkl; five grandchildren, John and Kate Volkl, Jeff and Trina Volkl, Jamey and Rachel Volkl, Korey and Missy Dobmeier, and Jon Osendorf; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and special friend, Everall Huff.
Preceded in death by her husbands, Lester Volkl and Robert Pappenfus; son, John Volkl; and two sisters, Marjorie Goedderz and Janet Garvey.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Brainerd with Father Kristoffer McKusky officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and the hour before services at the church on Friday.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, at 1:30 p.m. at Woodland Good Samaritan Village, 300 Building.
