He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the medical corps with the 177th Infantry, 43rd Division of the Vermont National Guard in the Pacific, and also served during the Korean War. He retired in 1958 from military service and was employed in several New York City hospitals as a male nurse.
His wife, the former Gertrude Ahn, whom he married in 1956 in Germany, died in New York City in 1976.
He is survived by a half-brother Robert K Gammon of Proctorsville, a nephew and three nieces.
Military burial services will be in Calverton National Cemetery, in Calverton, Long Island, NY
