James Edward Barry

Bells, Texas -- James Edward Barry, 88-year-old Bells resident, was born October 24, 1922 in Bonham, Texas to parents, Nat & Myrtle (Adams) Barry. Mr. Barry passed away on April 6 2011 at StoneBrook Assisted Living in Denison, Texas.

James married Elsie Bush on August 7, 1943 in Ector, having known her since he was five years old as they had been raised on neighboring farms between Ector and Randolph. James and Elsie
were married for 67 years.

James worked at Pool Manufacturing in Sherman for 14 years and then he and Elsie moved to Garland where he worked at Telsco Industries for 24 years. He retired in October 1985. He and Elsie moved to Bells in 1996. He enjoyed RV camping, especially sitting around the campfire with family and friends, and going to bluegrass, country & gospel music festivals.

He enjoyed traveling, having visited every state in the United States except Alaska. He also enjoyed gardening and had the best kept lawn in the neighborhood.

James always had a smile on his face and was a joy to be around. He was a member of Bells United Methodist Church.

James is survived by his wife, Elsie; Nieces, Billie Jon Whisenhunt of Ector, Betty Sellers and husband Tommy of Ector, Sue Webster of Irving, TX. and Dorothy Graham of Savoy; Nephews, Danny Bush and wife Debbie of Ector and Jimmy Dixon of Ector. He was preceded by his Sister, Geneva Moore, Brothers, Billy Joe Barry and Maurice Barry.

Pallbearers will be Colton Whisenhunt, Chris Sellers, Tommy Sellers, Sam Finnell, Danny Bush and Jimmy Dixon.

Services for Mr. Barry are set for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 9, at the Mullican-Little Funeral Chapel in Bells/Savoy with interment at Carson Cemetery in Ector. The family will receive friends at Mullican-Little Funeral Home from 7-8 P.M. Friday.

The Barry family wishes to thank Guardian Care Hospice for their excellent care of James.
