Mr. Dwayne Farmer, age 58 of Vidalia, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness. He was a native in Albuquerque, New Mexico, lived most of his life in Livermore, California, and has lived in Vidalia since 1991. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Northwestern Oklahoma State University, and retired as a chemist from General Electric after thirty-five years of service. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia, the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class, and the choir. He was a former Scout Master of Vidalia Troop # 933, and was preceded in death by his father Dewey Farmer.

Mr. Farmer is survived by his wife Donna Farmer of Vidalia; five children Nathan Farmer of Statesboro, Joshua Farmer of Watkinsville, Alysia Farmer Johnson and Adam of Columbus, Mindi Olivia of Lyons, and Aaron Morrison of Vidalia; his mother Bernice Maloch and Chet of Livermore; one brother Wes Farmer and Hilda Shirk of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, one sister Susan Stephenson and Ron of Whittier, California, one grandson Layten Phillips of Vidalia, and three nieces.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 9th at 5:00 pm in the First Baptist Church of Vidalia with Reverend Bucky Kennedy and Reverend Don Moye officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 3:00 until 5:00.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 631, Vidalia, GA 30475.
