Ex-ASSEMBLYMAN DEAD -
Angels Camp, Cal, Oct. 12,- John Gardner, a pioneer and an assemblyman of Calaveras in 1889, died to-day at the age of 76. He was a member of Bear Mountain Lodge No. 76, F. and A. M., of Angels.
----John and Rebecca Gardner bought the Cold Springs Hotel at Dorrington in 1866, now known as the Dorrington Hotel. The lived in Angels Camp on Bush Street when first coming to Calaveras Co, later living at the hotel most of the year. They purchased a home in Altaville in 1877 near where the Angels Musuem is now. Rebecca Gardner sold that house in 1902.
