Lindy John Smith, 61, of Cabot, lost his courageous, two-year battle with pancreatic cancer on Wednesday, April 6 (2011). He was born April 24, 1949.

Lindy was preceded in death by his father, John Perry Smith and mother, Emma Jean Smith Spence.

Lindy graduated from Cabot High School in 1967. During the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Enterprise CVN65 in 1968 and 1969.

Lindy is survived by his wife, Kaye Smith and his two loving daughters, Susan Elder of South Carolina and Leigh Johnson of Arkansas. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Jennifer Hallowell and Kaleigh Johnson, as well as one grandson, Blake Elder and a great-grandson Alex Hallowell. He is also survived by two sisters, Diane Mayhair and Donna Callison and one brother, Harold Smith, as well as a niece and four nephews.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 8, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home. Memorials to the Navigate Cancer Foundation would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
