EDWARDS, Matthew Dixon "Mack", a U.S. Army veteran and resident of Wetumpka, AL passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the age of 91,

Funeral serices will be Sunday April 3, 2011 aat 2 p.m. at Holtville Riverside Baptist church with Rev. Kenneth Garner officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife of 68 years, Eva Jean Edwards; son, Anthony "Tony" (Liz) Edwards; daughter, Kittie (Bill) Liddell; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew B. Edwards and Kittie Bea Lyle Edwards; son, Matthew D. Edwards, Jr. Pallbearers will be members of the US Army honor guard.

Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the United Service Organizations, Inc, Washington, DC.

Mr. Edwards served his country in the U.S. Army for 26 years, was an Army R.O.T.C. Instructor for nearly a decade and then retired to Lake Jordan. During retirement he taught small motors classes at John Patterson Technical School and worked at small motor shops in the Wetumpka area.
