DEATH OF NAT. H. LANE ~ At a few minutes before noon yesterday, Nat. H. Lane, Esp., breathed his last, at his residence in East Portland. He had been seriously ill with Bright's disease of the kidneys for a long time, but careful medical attendance and a visit to the Soda Springs had very greatly improved his condition, and up till Sunday his friends were hopeful of his recovery. On that day, however, he was stricken by paralysis, and soon it was seen that hope was vain and that his end was near. He lingered in much pain till the hour named, and then his spirit forsook its earthly tenement. Mr. Lane has been a resident of Oregon since 1848, and by his upright dealing with his fellow men, his truly honorable life and his universal kindheartedness, had won the earnest friendship of many and the esteem of all who came in contact with him. He was a son of Gen. Joseph Lane, born, we believe, in Indiana, and was 54 years of age. He leaves a bereaved family and a very large circle of friends who will long remember his many good traits of character.

At a meeting of the board of trustees of East Portland, held last evening , that body adopted the following resolutions:

WHEREAS, An esteemed fellow citizen, a former member of this board, an old resident of this place and of the state, Nat. H. Lane, Esq., has departed this life on the forenoon of this day; therefore.

Resolved, That in the death of Mr. Lane the community is deprived of an honest, honorable and useful citizen, and a kind and generous neighbor.

Resolved, That we hereby tender to the widow and relatives of the deceased our fervent commiseration on account of their sad bereavement.

Resolved, That as a token of our respect, this board attend, in a body, the funeral of our deceased fellow townsman.
