While visiting his dying sister-in-law Emma Gray at Lavacca, LA, Henry and his brother-in-law John Ogden were struck by lightning. John survived, but Henry was killed. Both men were standing on a hearth. A cat that was lying at his feet was also killed. (See The Town Talk, February 21, 1910.) A later issue of the Town Talk stated Emma died an hour later. She was a widow. After further research, it is determined that she was Emma Holloway, who married Clem Zebird Gray in Rapides Parish in 1907/1908. She was a sister to Henry and John's wives. She is unnamed in the Breithaupts of Louisiana book but it states she died in childbirth. She is most likely buried in the Moseley Cemetery next to her husband.
