Obituary: Herman Smith - Big Timber Pioneer - December 20, 1973
Funeral services will be held for Herman L. Smith, 54, who died Sunday at Sweet Grass Community Hospital. The services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Lowry Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

Herman Smith was born May 30, 1919 at Columbus, Montana, a son of Mr. and Mrs. George T. Smith, and attended school in Stillwater County. He came to Grey Cliff, Montana in 1944 and had ranched in that area until 1972 when he retired. He was married to Betty Braaten on January 11, 1952, at Livingston, Montana. They were later divorced.

Survivors include two sons, Tom and Kenneth, both of Grey Cliff; a daughter, Mrs. Wally (Lou Ann) Smith, Billings; his mother, Mrs. Agnes Smith, Big Timber; two brothers, Charles of Las Vegas, Nev., and Robert of Salem, Ore.; four sisters, Mrs. Maxine Lindgren, Missoula, Mrs. Bob (Betty) Harrington, Silverton, Ore., Mrs. Bob (Lucy) Abrahmson, Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Bjarne (Mae) Bjorndal, Big Timber.
