Mr. Earl Nickl[e]n Heap III, 77, of Bethesda, died Wednesday, May 16, at George Washington Hospital, Washington.

Born March 28, 1924, in Baltimore, he was a son of the late Earl N. and Olga Stalhandske Heap Jr.

Mr. Heap served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945, fighting in World War II.

Surviving are two nieces, Patricia Holmgren of Dickerson, and Susan E. Nutt of Illinois; and two nephews, Kenneth J. Heaton and Roy E. Heaton, both of Arlington, Va.

He was preceded in death by one sister, June Heap Heaton.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 21, at Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road, Barnesville.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, at Poolesville Presbyterian Church, 17804 Elgin Road, Poolesville.

Interment will be in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville.
