Edward O. Hoeltzel, 55, Sandstone, passed away from a heart attack at the Pine County Memorial Hospital at Sandstone Saturday, Oct. 22. He had been hospitalized only four days.

Mr. Hoeltzel was a Correctional Officer at the Sandstone Federal Correctional Institution and had been a resident of Sandstone since 1961. He had been with the Federal Bureau of Prisons for the past 27 years, coming to Sandstone from Leavenworth, Kansas. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church at Sandstone.

Mr. Hoeltzel, son of Philip and Bertha Hoeltzel, was born at Hillsdale, Oklahoma Nov. 10, 1910. On March 1, 1945, he was united in marriage to Shirley Bailey formerly of Sandstone.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley, and three sons, Thomas of Platte City, MO; Leland and William of Leavenworth, Kansas; two daughters, Mrs. Donna Gillespie of Leavenworth, Kansas, and Mrs. Gail McCoy of Rock Island, Illinois; three brothers, Richard, Paul and Albert all of Enid, Oklahoma; three sisters, Edna Hoeltzel, Mrs. Dorothy Edwards and Mrs. Hilda Benner, all of Enid, Oklahoma and 11 grandchildren.

Visitation was held at the Larson Funeral Home Monday afternoon, Oct. 24, and then the remains were shipped to Leavenworth, Kansas. Funeral services were held at the Davis Funeral Home at Leavenworth at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, with Rev. Arthur Solberg of Sandstone officiating. Burial was made at the Mount Muncie Cemetery at Leavenworth.

Memorial services were held at the Grace Lutheran Church Monday evening.
